We need the following positions filled:
Truck / Trailer Team – this position is a two or three person team with a pickup truck (with accessible bed) or small trailer attached to truck. Every 2 – 3 months, this team will pickup 40 stackable plastic bread trays, 3-4 black plastic skids, and 2-3 wooden skids and return them to Aldi in Englewood OH. Total operation takes 60-90 minutes from start to finish. All skids fit in one trip on a 5’x8′ trailer or truck bed. Cargo straps recommended for the job for safety.
Appointment Setter ( CURRENTLY FILLED ) – this position entails gathering the incoming messages for the food pantry and calling the clients to schedule their food pickups based on the schedule of the volunteers for that month. The messages are delivered directly to our Voicemail email account so you can listen and make the calls from the comfort of your own home. It takes less than 1 hour per day to make the calls/schedule the clients. People volunteering for this should be comfortable using email (to communicate with the volunteer leaders) and phones (to call the clients).
Shelf Stocking – this position is working with our existing shelf stocking crew (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) between 9am and 11am to learn the shelf stocking and inventory stocking system at the Pantry. We would like to have a couple extra hands to help out at the pantry. This is an excellent opportunity for retired people to contribute to the community. We are looking to bolster our ranks during the Monday/Wednesday/Friday time slots as well as create a Saturday slot with younger working volunteers who want to give back to the community. Food Bundle Volunteer – this position is working with our existing volunteer groups who participate for a one month time frame to provide food bundles for our clients to pickup during the week. Hours can vary depending on the month but typically are less than 2 hours per day (Monday – Friday). If you would like to volunteer to help handout food, please contact one of the groups below and find out when you can participate with them to hand out food bundles. The Vandalia Butler Food Pantry does not manage these groups – we appreciate their willingness to volunteer. You will need to contact them in order to participate as a food bundle volunteer during their chosen month.
